Christmas is all around!

Does the calendar really say December 13th? Wow! Time is just flying by and my to do list is growing by the day! I just can't believe Christmas is right around the corner.Well, Christmas is my favorite season of the year! In many countries of the world, the celebration of Christmas on December 25th is a high point of the year. Do you have any idea of that?

It is impossible to forget that Christmas is coming. Coloured lights decorate many town centres and shops, along with shiny decorations, Christmas tree will also be decorated with lights and artificial snow painted on shop windows.
This will be my first Christmas away from home.  Every year we will have family gathering to celebrate Christmas and my house will  be decorated with Christmas trees, coloured lights and usually I will work it with my mum. The day following Christmas is called boxing day and we will open our present (most of the time i open it before the boxing day la :D). Aiksss, hopefully this will be my first and last Christmas away from home. Miss all of them :)

Cross Stitch

The last time I tried my hand at cross stitch I was about nine years old, I got this idea that I wanted to relearn how to cross stitch again.

I bought this lovely cross stich pattern on my trip to Thailand for about RM6.90.

Love this pattern, time to brush up on my skills :) Hopefully I can finish it fast before my final exam.

Well, according to some article cross-stitch is a popular form of counted-thread embroidery in which X-shaped stitches in a tiled, raster-like pattern are used to form a picture. Cross-stitch is often executed on easily countable evenweave fabric called aida cloth. The stitcher counts the threads in each direction so that the stitches are of uniform size and appearance. This form of cross-stitch is also called counted cross-stitch in order to distinguish it from other forms of cross-stitch.

Thanks for stopping by :)

My Craft Punches

Besides felt craft, I love handmade card that made with craft punches. Punches are most definitely one of my favorite crafting tools and I love collecting them, but always thought that they are a bit pricey. Therefore, I always got my craft punches from Daiso which is cheaper, RM5 for each, but they have limited design and I don't feel perfect cause din't own all of them (feels like never get enough of them) :D! Anyway, check out Martha Stewart's Punches! Very useful for scrapbooking projects :) Nice rite but expensive because most of them are imported. What to do, we spent money to maximize our satisfaction! :D

Cow or Sheep? Haha~ Either one, I not very sure too :p

Some of my craft punches~

One of my handmade card that made by craft punches :)

裡面的我變陌生了;

名字也變陌生了;

( Photo source: Google Images )

Take Control in the Supermarket

Take control in the supermarket will help you save a lot of money. Therefore, I would like to share the alternative ways to cut anyone's expenses from Reader 's Digest and I found it's really working! :D

Here's how to leave the shop with the things you went in for and nothing more:

Pick up a basket

You will head straight for the checkout when it starts to get heavy. Avoid the trolleys because they encourage you to chuck in extras.

Make a list and stick to it

Shops deliberately place staples such as bread and milk a long way apart so you have to wander the aisles in between, buying stuff you don't really need on the way.

Beware BOGOFs (Buy One Get One Free offers)

Just how many watermelons can you eat in a week? Loose fruit and vegetables usually work out cheaper.

Just take cash

Carrying credit cards leads to budget-breaking impulse buys like chocolate.

Look up and down

The most profitable brands are placed at eye level. For bargains, check the top and bottom shelves.

Happy Saving~ :)

男人們, 請你試著舖一束濕衛生紙在你褲襠間連續5∼7天;

如果你是一個忙碌的上班族,有很多會要開;
或妳剛好是賣甜不辣的媽媽,公廁要走很遠;

月經不比自來水,開關由自己操作,要停要來隨心所欲;

Early Birthday Surprise

Early birthday surprise from my friends! I love this so much, this really surprised me. This big two two making my birthday truly memorable :) Time flies that I have been here for almost 2 and half years (looking back it was like yesterday!) Therefore, this would be my last birthday celebration with friends in my University life. Actually uni life sometimes is quite boring because everyday life is the same, and dull.Get up to have class,do some exercises,go bed. The other day is coming. Luckily with all my crazy gang, they make it not boring but interesting. We always have lot of fun together :) Looking forward for our future trips! Like what people always said: Life is short, make the most of it.

It's always good to hang out with group of friends and I'm glad I get to know all of you.

My friends ask me: Are you happy? Of course I am happy! Look at the photo I smile with my eyes squint closed almost :p

Us at Town Restaurant Steamboat or 火锅之家, Penang.

Felt Rose Tutorial

  Simple and Beautiful Felt Rose

I found this patten at How Joyful and printed it, cut it out and cut out my felt.  I used her template for the bigger size roses.  After I did the first one, I didn't need the pattern anymore and just eyeballed similar shapes for the different size of roses.
The materials that you need for this tutorial:

- Your color choice of felt

- Threat, needle and scissors

- Hot glue gun ( Since then, I don't have any hot glue gun, i use super glue )

- Download the pattern from How Joyful

(There are 4 different sizes for you from the template )

Enjoy! One of the tutorials i just love! :)

Felt Craft

This is my very 1st handmade felt craft!

Felt is a non-woven cloth that is produced by matting,
condensing and pressing woollen fibres.

While some types of felt are very soft, some are tough.
Usually I use the soft felt to make my felt craft.

I forgot when and how I fall in love with felt craft.
Many cultures have legends as to the origins of feltmaking.

If not mistaken the origins of feltmaking was actually europe.
( At first I thought it was from Japan)

Anyway, all this to say that this is my new way
of collecting craft projects and inspiration.

Have a nice day! :)

Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus

Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus.
That why Men and Women think differently.
Do you agree?

I have been reading this book "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus" written by John Gray who is a bestselling author, lecturer and relationships counsellor whose books have sold many millions of copies worldwide. "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus"  is actually really good and he makes some really interesting point and share his own experience.
The Martian and Venusian languages had the same words, but the way they were used gave different meanings.
He goes through 13 topics and the most interesting i found in chapter 5 is "Ten common complaints that are easily misinterpreted".

One of the complaints that are easily misinterpreted is Women say things like this: "We never go out", Men respond like this: "that's not true. We went out last week.

"We never go out' translated into Martian means "I feel like going out and doing something together. We always have such a fun time, and I love being with you. Without this translation, a man may hear "You are not doing your job. What a disappoint-ment you have turned out to be. ( P/s: What you thinking? It's that true? It just so true! :p)

Man should have this "Language Dictionary" because man will begins to understand the way women think and feel. Perhaps women should have one too to know your partner better! :)

Bako National Park

Last august, my uni friends come to visit me in kuching. I decided to bring them to Bako National Park, which I never been there too. LOL~ Anyway, i think this is the best place where you should be if you are in kuching.

How to get there? Take a bus ride from Kuching to Bako Market which takes around 45 minutes to reach there. From there, it's a 30-minute boat ride (RM 80 return for the whole boat) along the river estuary to the park headquarters. Tell your boatman what time you plan to return to Kuching. No worries! He will wait for you at the dock.
Along the river estuary~ Nice weather + Nice Scenery :)

Here is it! Bako National Park! I never knew it was so beautiful!

Egg Tarts Recipe

When I woke up this morning, I saw two pieces of egg tart on the dining table, guess mum bought it for my breakfast because I am egg tart’s fan.Hehe...I was thinking maybe I should try to make the egg tarts myself instead of buying some from bakery. There are two kinds of tart shells; one is puffing pastry-like, the other cookie-like. The one I going to make is cookie like which is my favorites. Here is it!

Egg Tart Recipe

Adapted from Christine's Recipes

Makes about 10-12 egg tarts (3-Inch Wide 1-1/2-Inch Deep Tart Tin)

Ingredients of crust

225 gm plain flour
125 gm butter
55 gm icing sugar
1 egg, whisked
a dash of vanilla extract

Ingredients of custard

3 eggs
110 gm caster sugar
225 gm hot water
85 gm evaporated milk
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Method (making crust):

1. Place butter at room temperature until softened. Cream the butter and sugar with an electric mixer over medium speed until the mixture is smooth, fluffy and light in color.(see picture)
2. Add in whisked egg, half at a time, beat over low speed. Add vanilla extract, mix well.
3. Sift in flour in two batches, scraping down the sides of the bowl between additions with a spatula, and make sure all ingredients combine well. Knead into dough.
4. Roll out the dough to a 1/2 cm thickness. Cut dough with a cookie cutter that is just a bit smaller than your tart tin in size. Line dough in the middle of tart tins, one by one. Lightly press the dough with your thumbs, starting from the bottom then up to the sides. While pressing the dough, turn the tart tin clockwise/anti-clockwise in order to make an even tart shell. Trim away any excess dough.

Method (making custard):

1. Add sugar into hot water, mix until completely dissolved.
2. Whisk egg with evaporated milk. Pour in sugar water. Mix well.
3. Sift egg mixture to get rid of any foam into a tea pot or measuring cup. Carefully pour egg mixture into each tart shell.(see picture)

Method (baking tarts):

1. Preheat oven to 200C. Position rack in lower third of oven. Bake tarts for 10 to 15 minutes until the edges are lightly brown.
2. Lower the heat to 180C. Keep an eye on them. Once you see the custard being puffed up a bit, pull the oven door open about 2 to 3 inches. Bake for another 10 to 15 minutes until the custard is cooked through. Just insert a toothpick into the custard. If it stands on its own, it’s done.

Just Another Ordinary Miracle

After listening to this song, did you notice that everything that happens around us actually was a miracle which is just another miracle?

“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle. ”

Albert Einstein
